Match Report: Bradford United 4 – 1 Atheltico
YAL Supreme Division
Bradford United 4-1 Athletico
First game of the season. A local derby it was. Billed as the favourites; yet form and reputation goes out the window in games like these. Athletico credit to them came with a game plan: sit back, frustrate and play on the counter. They did that! 5 minutes in, Athletico couldn’t believe their luck. A set piece parried by our keeper allowing the opposition midfielder to tap into an empty net.
Nerves maybe, a wake up call for sure. Wasn’t long until our quality shone through as we grew into the game moving the ball with purpose and desire increasing confidence levels. A sensational 20 minute spell followed which would blow most teams away in the region. Firstly, Umar starting off where he left last season. Great 1-2 before twinkle toeing his way past a number of athletico defenders smashing home with his left. 1-1. Aman soon made it 2-1 with an early goal of the season contender. New signing Brendan adding 3rd and 4th against his former side.
A pleasure to watch. Second half a few chances were created where a few goals could have been added yet not to be. Game ended 4-1. Lost of positives but more importantly 3 points.
