Match Report: Bradford United Ladies v Kinsley

Bradford United V Kinsley

Our Ladies team won their fist game of the season through constant hard work, drive and hunger. It was a game to remember with Zahraa bagging in 4 Goals, Kiran scoring her first Goal for the club and others bagging in their first assists.

An easy win for the ladies today. Bradford United started off strong and took an early lead through a wonderful weighted pass by Lauren into Zahraa to smash the ball in the back of the net within the first 5 minutes of the game. Bradford United dominated the first half resulting in 3-0 lead going into the halftime break.

Kinsley kept knocking on the door numerous times to open up Bradford’s defence. The side in blue were able to get one goal back after their captain bribed there players with “a Maccies” putting one passed Bradfords goalkeeper.

Bradford were quick to retaliate and scored 3 goals in quick succession in the space of 15 minutes making the score line a whopping 6-1.

Progressing into the last quarter of the second half, Bradford United’s ladies were not done yet as they pushed for more goals with Zahraa bagging the 7th.

In the last 5 minutes of the match a superb piece of counter attacking play when Lauren, the assisting merchant today, again played a wonderful weighted through ball into Kiran as she slotted it nicely in the left bottom corner giving United the 8th goal.

Overall this was a well deserved 3 points as the ladies have been working very hard in training and on match days as they look to take their momentum into their next fixture.

Bradford United 2-2 Gildersome Spurs

1st v 2nd today was we hosted Gildersome Spurs. Lads knew we were in for a game which showed from the start. High tempo, every 50-50 ball contested with heart and desire from both teams.

But it was Bradford United who took the lead. Umar converting from the spot. Truly deserved as we came close to breaking the deadlock on 2/3 occasions before this only to be denied by some brilliant saves. A few moments later Buba went on a mazy run from defence somewhat confused why he’s been able to drive with the ball 50-60 yards unchallenged unleashed a venomous strike which left the keeper with no chance. 2-0.

Gildersomes frantic and ferocious pace undone with even bigger heart and work rate from our lads seeing us out for a 2-0 lead at HT. Second half started like the first. Very high tempo yet controlled from our side which on another day would have seen us go 3-0 up.

Credit to Gildersome who kept going where they got own back from a free kick. A soft one from our side. However the game changed when our CB had a moment of madness berating the referee over a 50/50 seeing him see a red card. From there we were under the cosh yet saw it out until the last minute where a long throw trickled in. Heartbreak. Hard one to take but massively proud of all the lads.

County Cup

Shire Academics Res 1-2 Bradford United U23s

A few changes made to the line up from last game as we looked to get back to winning ways. Ray, maheen and zain into the starting 11.

We started off well with the right desire and hunger. Totally dominated the first 30 minutes of the game. As we kept pushing for the lead, our first goal came from a delightful ball from MUAWIYAH from the right hand side with GREENY jumping highest to head home. The next 5 minutes we looked confident and stepped it up with us hitting the post and bar from the edge of the box. We always knew they would be a threat from set pieces and they proved to be on the 40th minute with us not dealing with a corner. Shire academies continued with the long ball tactic but we stood strong to take it to half time 1-1.

Started the second half very well and started combining well from back to front. We created further half chances but their keeper saved well at the front post. 65th minute, set Piece to us from the right, MUAWIYAH played another fantastic in swinger and Greeny headed home again. 2-1

After taking the lead we continued playing well for the next 10 minutes. The last 10 minutes they threw everything at us but we showed heart to keep the lead. We had 3/4 opportunities to hit them on the break but we weren’t able to play the right final ball.

County Cup

Mount St Mary’s 3-2 Bradford United 21s

The lads went into the game knowing the opponents were a few divisions higher and last years county cup runners up however that didn’t bother the lads one bit. The lads were superb from the start in their build up play and battle on the pitch. 30 minutes in a mistake lead to the home side taking the lead 1-0 which we didn’t deserve at all. It was time for courage and character and the lads had shown that throughout the game. HT 1-0

The second half the game plan was simple to keep doing what we are doing and be smarter in our approach offensively. This was executed when Sulaiq latched onto a loose ball to put us level in the game 1-1. We didn’t stop there we kept battling and matching the home side in the game only for sulaiq to put Adil through who rounded the keeper and slotted home. 2-1. It could have been 3-1 and game over but it just wasn’t meant to be.

Two mistakes in the last 7 minutes left the lads wounded. FT 3-2

YAL Yorkshire Cup – First Round

Bradford United 3-2 Leeds Medics Reserves

Bradford United hosted Leeds Medics Reserves in the Yorkshire Cup. In typical Leeds Medics manner they worked tirelessly & made it difficult for us defending in numbers.

As what seems the norm these days; Bradford started slow which allowed Medics to gain a shock lead through a free kick. This seemed to wake the United ranks who started moving the ball in their usual manner which saw Juwara level in a well worked move. The rest of the half United dominate the ball like majority of the game but no avail as the Medics rearguard hung on.

A similar pattern arouse 2nd half. Bradford dominated for large parts which saw both team pick up a goal apiece however it required a last minute wonder striker from Mehmet to sink Medics hearts who deserved something. Your typical cup game; Bradford move on but Medics deserve much credit giving a very good account of themselves

Colton 0-2 Bradford United U23s

Another disappointing result for the u23s despite dominating most of the play. The boys did everything but score. Cotton had 2 chances which resulted in 2 goals. A big positive was seeing young Adil Khan make his debut after been promoted from the u21s. He looked very much at home. Its been a challenging start to the season for the team and the team are working hard to turn it around. The 23s have a cup game next week which will be great opportunity to get back to winning ways and hopefully go on a cup run.

Thornhill 3-2 Bradford United 21s

The lads started the game well taking an early lead through Zain with a good strike in the bottom corner however another mistake lead to Thornhill getting an equaliser and breaking their way into the game. HT 1-1

The lads just didn’t seem to get going in the first half however were awesome in many parts of the second. United controlled it from the off and took a deserved lead through a great strike from Mustafa 2-1. Two set pieces then took the game away from the boys. A deflected free kick ended up in the back of the net and then the sucker punch when it seemed to have been cleared off the line however the goal was given. Some missed chances and one rattled the post but wasn’t meant to be. FT 3-2

Match Report: Leeds Hyde v Bradford United Ladies

Leeds Hyde Park V Bradford United Ladies

This was by far the best game the ladies have played so far in the season. Full of energy, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.

Leeds Hyde Park started off strong and got a goal breaking the deadlock but Bradford were quick to make amends pulling a goal back and equalise shortly after 5 minutes of conceding.

Bradford started to look stronger as the game progressed as Hannah played a beautifully weighted pass through to Zahraa, sending her 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper and slotted it nicely in the bottom left hand corner.

Leeds Hyde Park kept pushing back at the other end as it got closer to half time and just before the halftime whistle blew they managed to pull a goal back making it 2-2, just before both teams headed for the break.

A couple of changes at half time saw Bradford a little unsteady after the second half was under way and Leeds Hyde Park were able to get 2 goals in quick succession.

In the final quarter of the match, tired legs on the home side caused a mistake with the help of Haleema’s energetic pressing. the ball landed into the path of Naomi. Naomi saw an opportunity and puts it in the top left corner giving the keeper no chance to get to it, nicely executed making it 4-3 to Leeds Hyde Park.

Bradford Utd kept dominating possession and created many opportunities in the last 5 minutes of the game but just couldn’t get the goal back to equalise.

Overall Bradford Utd showed great desire and determination throughout the full duration of the match and also displayed massive improvement.

Match Report: Bradford United v Farsley

YAL Supreme Division

Bradford United 6-0 Farsley Celtic Juniors

Bradford United hosted local side Farsley Celtic aiming to make it 3 on the bounce. Farsley are somewhat of a fallen giant having once been a dominant force at this level. Nevertheless still no easy task.

Unlike the previous few games we started brightly. Moving the ball right to left in a fleeing manner which saw us get the goal we deserved. Brendan whipping a lovely ball in back post asking for someone to put it in. Pogba rose high and made no mistake. The next 10-20 very cagey, where half chances were created but neither side capitalised.

You can sense it was a matter of time as Farsley rarely got out of their own half thier own half as 2nd half grew. That time came 10 minutes in. A Brendan Maltby masterclass it was scoring 4 in the process including 2 worldies. Rooney added a 6th making it a habit bagging off the bench.

This performance has been coming for a long time. Perfect as we head into a break from the league. Massive shout of to Brendan who played a part in all 6 goals. Some player 👏🏼

Match Report: Bradford United Ladies v Lower Hopton

Another home game for the ladies today. A game of testing a new back line and players facing new challenges in positioning.

Both teams started off strong, pressing high and keeping a high strong backline. Lower Hopton maintained the high press which saw them taking the lead from a well delivered corner within the first 10 minutes of the game.

As we progressed into the first half. Zahraa scored for Bradford United from another corner in the game wonderfully delivered by Henna, ending the half one a-piece.

At halftime, the message to the girls was to stay sharp and be first to the ball. Straight after Sora saved a penalty Bradford played a pass out from a goal kick to Henna, the teams goal assisting merchant. Henna, once again, taking the ball on the left hand side and sending a perfectly weighted pass to Zahra who took her chance finished it off nicely making it 2-1 to Bradford United.

Bradford kept pushing for another goal but a mixture of shots off target, long balls and tired players saw Lower Hopton pull the lead back making it 2-5.

In the final 5 minutes of the game, Bradford United won a free kick just outside the halfway circle. With still minutes to go Zahraa was ambitious enough to attempt an astonishing free kick hitting the back of the net pulling a goal back to make it 3-5.

As the clock ticked on, Bradford United ran out of time and the match finished 3-5 with a lot of positives to take from it.

Match Report: Bradford United v Leeds Medics

YAL Supreme Division

Bradford United 3-1 Leeds Medics & Dentists

Next up for our first team was another Leeds based team in Leeds Medics. Well known for their constant hard work and never quit attitude we knew this would be no easy encounter.

Medics started fast out of the blocks, pressing high and dictating the tempo of the game which saw them rightfully take the lead in the first 15 minutes. 0-1.

Once again under the cosh at home. Abit of character was needed to settle affairs which was too erratic for our liking. Once we settled, we showed our capabilities scoring 2 in the process. Firstly, Umar equalised after some neat play from Juwara. Secondly, Juwara made no mistake capitalising on Medics keeper flapping a corner. 2-1 HT.

At HT the message was to calm down as everything was just 100 miles per hour. The frantic nature suited Medics. Once again, medics came out the block & we struggled at times but dug deep cancelling out any threat Medics posed.

As the final 30 approached; Bradford had the luxury of calling upon a superstar bench of Khurram, Mo Sadiq & Ceesay along with a change of shape allowed Bradford to finally get a real foothold of the game for the first time. The 3rd and final goal followed; a moment of magic from Juwara who found himself in space; riffling one into the back of the net from 25-30 yards. Game, set and match.

Game wasn’t fancy on Bradford’s side but lots of character & bottle was shown when under the cosh; where a few weeks ago we crumbled. 3 points. Onto next week as we face Farsley.

Match Report: Pontefract v Bradford United Ladies 11-1

A bad day in the office for Bradford United Ladies

The game started off really well as both teams were end to end. Pontefract were the ones to break the deadlock but United were quick to fight back and equalise through a penalty.

As the game progressed Bradford United Ladies started creating several chances but Pontefract kept a strong line making it difficult for Bradford United Ladies to get through. Alas lots of positives from the game to take away despite the score line may suggest.

As they say you win some and you lose some. But nevertheless the Ladies will come back stronger and fight their way through the rest of the season.

We wish Ponte all the best for the rest of the season.

Match Report: Bradford United v Ryburn 0-2

YAL Supreme Division

Bradford United 0-2 Ryburn United

Bradford hosted Ryburn whom we knew would be no easy feat considering the good work they’ve done over the summer with their player and management overhaul.

First 30 we’re cagey. Ryburn came flying out the blocks looking to play on the front and press very high. Bradford caught off guard but nothing of real note other than half chances for both sides.

Upon 35 minutes Ryburn took the league. Firstly, a lack of challenge at halfway line prevented Bradford to push their defensive line up. Ryburn capitalised. Their striker played in who made no real mistake punishing Bradford for abit lazy work. 0-1. Brad nearly got us an instant reply with his long busting runs but was denied by the post.

A change of personnel and formation was the cause at HT hoping for a reaction. As many of Bradfords game, 2nd half was one way traffic. Constant pressure with very little coming back at us. Opportunities were there but not taken on 2 separate occasions. On the other side Ryburn waited albeit an offside call that wasn’t given, took their chance. 2-0.

Bradford made a last hurrah to get something out of the game but a mixture of post, goalkeeper, heroic defending saw Ryburn hold the win.

First defeat at home since the management change last October. Disappointing result, but in fairness fairplay to Ryburn. Came with a plan & played it to a tee. No complaints from us. Outworked & out ran us which has rarely happened since the change in management. It’s not a time to feel sorry for ourselves but to dust ourselves for the future with a massive game v Leeds University coming up.
