Match Report: Blackburn FC 2-1 Bradford United

Semi final of the Asian Championship beckoned for our first team on Sunday. Once again facing another Blackburn outfit in Blackburn FC. 3 changes were made from the QF. Mo Qasim, Zain Mushtaq & Daniel Eze coming in for Musa Jallow, Mohammed Anas & Muhammet.

First half started evenly with both teams testing the waters out with the first standout moment coming when Blackburn capitalised on a number of mistakes by Bradford. Firstly, conceding a cheap free kick, then not being able to clear the lines which allowed the Blackburn attacker to scuff one past Bradfords keeper. 0-1 Blackburn.

With Blackburn’s tails up and a few number of fans behind them; a moment of brilliance from their winger saw them extend the lead with a mazy run ending with a tidy finish. 0-2.

As the half progressed, Bradford slowly started getting grips of the game leading to several half chances until the brink of HT which saw a definite Bradford United goal stopped on the line by a suspected hand. Penalty awarded after some discussion with the linesman which Umar made no mistake putting away.

Second half from a Bradford point of view was one of the most frustrating ones you would see. Dominated for 40 minutes without the breakthrough. At times playing through Blackburn midfield easily until the final ball. Not sure what a stop start half had to do with that as Blackburn most have broken a record with the number of injuries, cramps & niggles in one half.

Having said this, there was one final guilt edge chance as we threw the kitchen sink at it which was headed over from a few yards out. One of them days. On another day we score 2-3, wasn’t meant to be. It’s been a long slog of a season where we saw us win the District Cup in our first season as a club. Now a rest period awaits as we look to aim to push for a league title in 2024 along with a few cup wins.

Match Report: Bradford United 3-0 Blackburn United

UK Asian Championships – Asian Image

First team were invited to compete in the Asian Championships 2023. An 8 team competition where the best Asian teams come together to hold the Asian Championships.

Our first opponents Blackburn United.

Very little was known of them hence a tried and tested lineup picked itself. Bradford dominated early moving the ball around crisply & with purpose in the first 5 minutes which led to a near identical goal from the district cup final where a cross field ball was taken under control superbly by Umar ‘El Pistolero’ Ali squaring the Blackburn defender up leaving only one outcome. 1-0.

No further goal additions were made despite Bradford domination at times showing some classy combinations which on other days would have got 2/3 goals. 1-0 HT.

Second half saw Bradford score 2 more, firstly Umar shooting from 30 yards which was fumbled over the line by Blackburn’s keeper & a tidy finish from Haroon who was a nuisance as always when called upon.

Bradford controlled majority of the game. Keeping the ball at will & rarely being troubled which can only been seen as a professional performance as bigger tests lie ahead.

Match report: Leeds Medics 1-4 Bradford United

Last game of the season. An opportunity for Bradford to cement top 4 and cap a brilliant first season in the top division. Against medics who we know well and are always a pleasure to play against. Professional outfit with relentless work rate.

A number of changes to the line up with close to 6 23s get an opportunity to to impress the manager.

Before the game a minutes silence was held after a family member of one of the players past away this week. Impeccable observed.

Bradford dominated large parts of the game showing classy combinations and were comfortable in possession. Bradford controlled the game from back to front. Jallow continues his rich form in the first team with yet another 2 goals. Finished the season strong and set the foundations for next season. Job done.
